Carbon capture and Biodiversity group
Many of our SPAD members are volunteering for the Parish council's Carbon capture and Biodiversity sub-group. This enables us to share ideas, formulate plans and plan practical action projects such as new meadow creation, new hedgerow planting, new areas to re-wild and to plant trees in our Parish.
Initiatives we have helped to action and achievements to date include:
A cheap deal on Pond liner for all local residents
over 400 trees planted to date
Agreement with North Somerset council for several new patches of meadow to be created around the Villages
A growing local membership of over 50 volunteers
A practical action group called 'the tree huggers' who have helped to water, weed and mulch over 100 newly planted trees
Contacts with local schools to offer help establishing wildlife gardens and planting trees
To get involved send a message using our contact form for the attention of Lucy Byrne the group co-ordinator
