A team of SPAD volunteers spent a couple of hours picking up litter from the roadside between the A369 and St Katherine's school. About a dozen big bags were collected and the difference was amazing! Should have taken some before and after photos. As well as hundreds of drinks bottles and crisp bags we found a driving licence, half a credit card and some car parts. Amazing what you find when you look!
Well the weather in Pill is glorious today! We started the day by joining a fantastic Dawn Chorus walk on Watchhouse Hill. The walk was led by Chris Sperring MBE (@chrissperring) from the Hawk and Owl Trust.
Chris identified all the birds we heard and did a great job of trying to teach us how to identify the birds ourselves. He was impressed by the great habitats available on Watchhouse Hill with it's mix of scrub land, trees and long and short grassland. We saw several song thrushes (which are now endangered elsewhere) and were also lucky enough to see a sparrowhawk flying just overhead.
All in all it was well worth the 5am start to the day!
We've set up this website in order to make it much easier for anyone to find out about what we are trying to do. It's early days for the website so any suggestions for information to include would be very welcome!
